ABS light

Post by oldredwheels »

All,

Have a 2000 V70 non-turbo 128K. Seeing an odd ABS light issue. Drive the car for an hour or two and the ABS light comes on, stays on. No speedo issues, no check engine light. Stop the car for 10 minutes, stays off for about 20-30 minutes then back on. Can't read codes with my ODBII.

Before I go pay someone to read the ABS codes any comments? I was going to pull the ABS module and have it rebuilt but before I spend too much money I thought I'd ask.

Thanks

oldredwheels.

Might be the pickups at the wheels are dirty and the heat is affecting them (spitballing here). Pull the wheels and clean them and the toothed wheel to reads. If that still doesn't do the job, you might have to get the module repaired. You can send a PM to Matty Moo who can do it for you;

The heat won't really have any effect on the wheel sensors, but it will on the module. When they start to go out they like to work when it's cold and will give you lights once it gets hot.

Thanks Matty Moo,

So it sounds like the module failure doesn't always cause speedo and shifting issues because the car has been running great.

Well, on to the removal and repair phase. Thanks for the link.

Not always, it just depends on which order the pins inside decide to crack. Leave it long enough and it will do those things though.
