2000 S70 w/sc-816 radio stuck in "CODE" display

I did not have to remove the ribbon cable to work on the light bulbs. The light bulbs on these just twist out of the back of the circuit board so no soldering needed to be done. The #6 pre-set is the only thing on the radio that does not work but can't use the radio without the #6 working!! I am thinking of taking it in to a electronics repair shop to have them do some diagnostics on it!?

I'm guessing you could buy a very good used condition radio with a one year warranty for less than the cost of professional diagnosis and subsequent repair at an electronics repair facility. I know this can be such a frustrating experience, but - its just a radio. There are lots of 816s out there needing a good home.

I was fortunate last month to be one of the first "Volvo people" to come across a recently salvaged '99 s70 at my pick and pull.(still had its radio) All radios are $25. It still had an 816 in excelent condition and fully functional. The car also had its owners manual with the original code card in it. The card is in my wallet now, and I can play CDs in a '93. Yay.
