Hello gmtgmt,

Still could show equal wear on the tires, as the camber has not changed.

Alignment is a funny thing, I have a number of times had alignment problems.

I am sure you are aware that if the clearances of a gear or a bearing has changed, the will be increased friction on these parts causing increased temperature of the oil.

The last time I dealt with alignment was with a 1,500hp diesel engine -gearbox- shaft bearing and fluid coupling. In each the oil had increased by 25 - 32 deg C. To make it short, the alignment was out by 1.5mm.

Good luck

i highly doudt this is the case on thone because this is extreme, this happend after the car had been sitting for like 3 mounths.

My friend bought back in november, it had an engine change like 100miles before he bought it. it need brakes and alot of misc stuff like OEM plugs, wires and tranny fluid flush so he took if of the road and parked it until febuary, I replaced most wear parts. he got it drove it like 200miles and called me and said it had smoke porring out down by the turbo and was funny in the steering and had a strange whining sound. I picked it up on trailer and took a look at it. Powersteering was low in fluid and oil had been hitting the cat converter. it for some time after that like a mounth. This guy owns 2 Yellow T5Rs so he had enough to drive and wanted to get rid of one of them before getting this one roadworth again. one of them sells some time after this.

Before that we turn one of them back to stuck it had a T19 Turbo on with like 1000miles on it he wanted this on the V70, i changed it. and found the O-ring in the return tube to be destroyed, Proberly when they changed it over on the new engine. This was proberly the cause of the oil on the Cat convert. After this he Bought a complete stainless steel exhurst with 3 inch down pipe an cat conveter And BSR eprom. i drove it some before i said it was 100% and put new tags on it and had it inspected.
was all done last week and he picked it up drove it about 30 miles it smells very bad and has this very bad whining noise and he can feel it in the Shifter.

I get it back and find out it bearly can drive, my hunch was the Angle gear, i was right the oil was burnt very bad. Bought a replacemant from VOLVO and this is where we are now stil cooks the OIL

but this is getting a 4 wheel alignment anyways after we are done.

Ok heres a small update.

Took it to work and found the Shop manual for AWD on 850 and there was a few test that could be done to see if everything work as it should.

like this

Raise the car on the Hoist, in reverse up to 50kmh/30mph and the rear wheels should should turn noticabel slower than the front one. They didnt.

Also when you let of the gas and let the mph drop like 10mph and stomp the gas it should have loud noise comming from the Centrifugal Clutch (Behind the VC) This didnt happen it just accelerated.

Also when i removed the Drive shaft i should be able to move the VC unit some but it was frosen solid like a normal drive shaft.

This adds up to bad VC and Centrifugal clutch. Brand new Volvo unit coast a woping $2500 Pulled a few threads and got it down to $1000 for New Volvo. a used one was like $600 from a specialist and no warrenty :?

I removed it tonight What a Pain the Butt had to lower the Rear Subrame and offcoause with Alloy and metal and +15 year in the open we all know what happes to bolts. but got it off with only one bolt head getting round. and was able to put a pry bar in the right side and alot of extensions I was able to remove the upper bolts for the Toqure housing...

I get the new one Thursday. also ordered the bearing and bushing for the Toqure housing and new bolts

Update will follow
