Transmission Control Module (TCM)

Post by Ralph3 »

I just had my TCM flashed and re coded. Every thing is good. What is involved in changing the Module if it sets a check engine light again with the 1618 code? What is the cost of the Module and how much labor is involved?

1618 has nothing to do with your TCM

It's a communication error
It could be a wiring harness crack somewhere, it could be the ABS module connection, it could be other things!!
1618 is a nasty little code but has nothing to do with the TCU

My CarMD OBD II reader gave me the P1618 code. It said to fix it the TCM had to be reprogramed. That is what I did and the cars runs fine now without a check engine light. Transmission shifts fine. Service tech said if it happened again I would have to replace the TCM and I was trying to find out how to change it and the cost.

Whatever
Changing it takes 5 minutes
What a new one costs, I don't know, at least 1200-$1400
