Fast Friday #1

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

I ran my car just to get a baseline number about a month ago and ran a 16.7 with my 15g still in. These auto's just aren't good for racing. I'll let you know if I head up again. Hopefully the intake and throttle body will help a bit. I don't know if you know but there is a dyno day being held by rmvcoa this Saturday at 12:00. I'm gonna be heading down to check it out.

I wanted to make that Dyno Day event, but I'm going camping with my gf... we couldn't find any other weekend unfortunately. Take some pics of it and post em here if you can.

Do you know your best trap speed? I imagine that would look pretty good since these cars have everything on the top end.

My car will pull easily past 100 mph, and it's got lots left. I read somewhere that the '95 T5-R was the fastest FWD car available when it hit the market in North America.

I got the R exhaust header yesterday, so now it's a matter of getting the studs and gaskets, and that'll be that. Then exhaust and chip. Pick up 5hp here, 5hp there, I'll get there I figure. It's just that the goalposts will move. When I'm under 6-second 0-60, getting under 5 seconds will be keeping me up at night. :D

I was too scared to do some of this stuff when my 850 was valuable. Depreciation can be a good thing.

It's nice to have a car you aren't as afraid to blow up! When i got my 94 850 turbo, I took it to the tuner day at Bandimere. When i bought it, supposedly it had an IPD stage 1 tune and nothing else. My best time was a 15.007. And frankly the car wasn't in that great of shape and I didn't have a very good launch on that run. I haven't gotten to take my 98 T5 manual down there yet. It only has a cat back EST exhaust. The shop i work at has a dyno and it pulled 256 hp and 311 ft. lbs. (note that the dyno "corrects" for temperature and altitude and other things, so this is what it should make at sea level). These cars can make some very respectable power, pretty easily.

I know what your saying Matt. Modding a car is a never ending process. As soon as you get a taste of that speed and acceleration you always want more. I'm just gonna stay pretty reasonable with yellow. I don't want to tear up the car, these cars are getting rarer by the day and mines in decent shape. Depreciation CAN be a good thing. I would love to get my hands on a beater 850 and throw a huge turbo in it and see what happens. I've seen some cheap 850's on craigslist. Or even cheaper would be an old 240 with a 350 in it. That would a fun drag car.
