Hi,
My 93 850 will not start. No fuel pressure. Did jumper the #15 & #87 fuel pump relay socket, but still no fuel pressure. Is it certain that its the fuel pump? what else could it be? Please help.
It has spark and cranks, but no start. pinched schrader valve, but only a couple drops of fuel dripped out. The fuel pump seems to be quite expensive... Thanks.
Details: It was driving fine on the freeway, and arrived at my destination, parked and went shopping. When I came out and about to leave, the car started, but rough idle, give gas no go - no power and stalled. It was a hot day - car temperature shows 31C outside. Tried to start again and couldn't. Pushed the car, parked overnight. Checked DTC A6 214 & 314. Cleared it, and has been 111 since then.
Next day go back pick up the car, tried to start at first, but it would not. DTC A2 & A6 111. Later tried again and it started, drove it to almost home went to the post office, came back out, it would not start again. Towed it. Now DTC A2 & A6 still 111.
Please help! Thanks!

Go to O'Reilly's or Autozone and rent a fuel pressure guage. Attach it to the shraeder valve and when you turn the key to position II you should have about 43lbs of pressure. If not, then it is either the pump or the fuse (little 1 in the fuse box, forgot what number) or relay with the number 103 stamped on it. Let me know what you find out and take it from there.

Hi shaker_chi,
Thanks for your reply. I pushed on the schrader valve with a screw driver (without gauge) and there was only two drops of fuel came out, its obvious there is no fuel pressure. Also jumped the #103 fuel pump relay #15 & #87 socket, but still no fuel pressure. Also, I don't hear the usual "spinning sound" that I used to hear inside the cabin when key's in pos. II. So I am guessing it's the fuel pump.
My question is could it be other things beside the fuel pump? Also, why is there a huge difference in price for the fuel pump assembly (~$400) & the fuel pump insert (~$80)? Could someone tell me the difference? What will I need?
Thanks in advance!

I would still borrow the fuel pressure guage to make sure before you start buying a new fuel pump and tearing apart your trunk.

'93s are fun aren't they? It's a challenge to own what was essentially an experimental year. Mine has since evolved.
