Alarm System Question...

I have a 01 S80 (one year, two mos and counting...) everything is working well except for the Alarm System. The doors lock, the red light on the center dash (over the radio) blinks, but the lights doesn't flash (to signal that the alarm system is activated). I have scheduled an appointment at the dealer but if there is something simple that I can take care of I will give it a try.

Hi. I'm new to this forum. I have a 2001 S80 T6/Executive. I've had this car for a short time. My Alarm System has started going off for no reason. What was done to fix yours?

Intermittent alarm activations on the V/S/C/XC and like modles are most commonly caused by faulty door latches. Corrosion in the micro switch inside the latch will cause intermittent contact dropouts, setting off the alarm. Sometimes it will also cause battery failure due to interior lights turning on long after the car has been locked.
