96 850 interior light problem
Re: 96 850 interior light problem
Thank You, it does feel good.Got a pass on emission inspection due to low mileage last year, so the OBDII not working was not an issue. just kept a flashlight aboard and muddled thru, thanks again for the help all.
Hello and good evening , I just had this unfortunate interior lighting problem with my recently acquired 1997 850, 5 speed wagon.
And I fixed it tonight ... Turns out that the central overhead lighting console driver side bulb was loose in its socket and the contact retaining spring was causing the short. A simple rebending of that contact spring and refitting the bulb into its retainer clip solve the problem easly, however had that particular bulb not had shown flickers from time to time, I am sure I would've been lost as to where to start.
Granted the whole assembly's construction is like a cheap D cell flashlight, however the beauty of it was this was an easy to fix
Perhaps this will help others in their quest for interior lighting problem solving. "The Suspect Bulb"

I have a 1994 Volvo 850 base sedan. The car shop cut through the wires near the visor and there is a constant ding, ding, ding, and the interior lights don't work.
Need Assistance Troubleshooting: Does anyone have suggestions on how to trouble shoot or repair this - the constant dings are very annoying?

Are you able to get to the cut points on the wires to reconnect them? I'd try that first. A female-female crimp connector would probably work, after stripping off a little insulation.
