What is this?

Post by volvo noob »

I was tinkering around with my car and I found this strange nipple that is not connected to anything. It has a bunch of oil on it and it seems to be connected to the block. Can anyone tell me what this is? And is there supposed to be something connected to it?

The orientation of the pic is a little strange. I was laying on my back and looking up. This nipple is on the back side of the motor on the passenger side of the car near the fuel lines.

Engine block coolant drain. Nothing is supposed to be attached.

Unless your inboard CV joint if flinging grease, you may want to check your cam seals for the oil leak.
