A piece of hose and a dab of silicone on the firewall side should eliminate or drastically reduce the noise. Same link as before (2nd photo) but add some silicone.

checked out mine and the leak was a evaporator drain hose clog , 5 min fix, make sure to check if your losing coolant!!, plus removing the carpet/ side panels/ kick panels on both sides to see were water is coming from really helps. Mine only leaked when fan was running since the fan cowling was backed up with water !!

Just want to add a video to make this complete.
IPD USA has a nice video showing you how to replace Heater Core.

NOTE: IPD recommends clamping the heater hoses (in the engine compartment) to minimize coolant spill inside the cabin:

Trapped air in the system when you opened it. I couldn't find anything here right off but the link below should help.

The thermostat you put in, does it have a hole?

A hole in the thermostat allows air to bleed out by itself.

The Factory Volvo thermostat was made by Wahler and it has a hole in it.

Some aftermarket tstats have no holes. What brand of tstat did you put it?

Here is a picture of the bleed hole:

BKM...
your article was extremely informative! !!
Ill have to wait till tomorrow morning to test it though.
so what I'm reading is...unclamp highest heater hose...pull from radiator ... fill radiator ...clamp hose back to radiator ...top off reservoir again...how long should it take to see a difference? ?
How does that bleed air?
Just
Curious.
How do u bleed air already in cooling system? ?
DEFINITELY TRYING ASAP IN AM!!
:) :)
