98 V70r, Bad Fuel level sensor?

Post by ct98saffv70r »

So this just happened. started the car, fuel level read as empty.. went and put a couple gallons in it to run an errand. No change. Then after i went to fill it, it only took about 10 gallons, it seems. Started the car and the gauge did jump up for the gauge test.. oddly right to 10 gallons and fell back to empty. "Miles to empty" is naturally not working.

A bad sender could indeed cause your problem. I have not had one out on a Volvo but the one I yanked out of a Porsche 944 was just a float that tracked along a nichrome wire. After I cleaned the crud off of the wire and the contacts to the wire it worked fine.
