does anybody know of a interface apart from the vct2000 that will work using the vardis dvd's :?:

Sorry, No. Even if you could, without the expensive subscription you wouldn't be able to access the Volvo stuff off the web that VADIS takes advantage of.
But others may chime in. There is an Alex Peper software and hook-up you can use with your laptop, but don't think it is compatible with the VT2000. You can do a google search and see...plenty of info on the very nice stuff Mr. Peper has developed. Out of England there is also the VOL-FCR software, but you have to have a hook-up to OBD...you might get away with one of those lap-top to OBD-II or OBD-CAN cables available on eBay for this. Here is a link of the vendor:
