V70 problems starting after short run

I have a V70 which does not restart after doing a short run. Starts after 10 - 15 minutes. When spinning engine thought it might be flooded but plugs were dry. Replaced fuel pump relay seemed okay for a couple of weeks. Then fault returned - when trying to start engine cuts out and digital car clock sets to zero. Thought it could be an earth strap - all cleaned - problem returned. Volvo diagnose again, this time replace thermostat - stating a problem with engine temperature being linked to fuel system ( ecu ). This sorted it for another couple of weeks - problem recurred. CAN ANYONE SUGGEST ANYTHING? MAYBE MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR? PLEASE HELP ME.

Volvo today fitted a new antenna ring ( ignition key surround ) which I think shiels or senses or is linked to the key operated immobiliser circuit. We think that this linked to a slightly flat battery has been the problem. Will come back later to let everyone know.

i have had a the same problem not with the clock issue ,, but when i have driven the car in a fine running order then turned off the engine immidiately tried to start and the engine turned over constantly but will not fire up ,, unless i leave it for five minutes , and it will start and run perfect i have to do this every time to start the car ,, and i have noticed when i try to start it and it does not fire the engine management light and the oil warning light fail to illuminate ,, when they do eventually illuminate it starts and runs perfect ,,like there has'nt been any problem

I had a hard starting after a short run problem with my 1994 850 NA,which was corrected by replacing the cam position sensor on Dec. 3,2011.I have not had THAT problem since. I DO have an intermittent stalling problem with the same car.I replaced the fuel injection relay on Dec.30,2011 and the problem disappeared until July of this year. It has only stalled twice;on 7/15/12 and 8/16/12??? I also had an engine stalling problem with my 1996 850 NA. I swapped the fuel pump relay (103) with my 1998 S70 NA on June 15,2012 and NEITHER car has stalled since then??

Could also be faulty engine coolant temperature sensor, or starter on the way out. How many miles? Original starter? I would never replace a thermostat without also replacing the engine coolant temperature sensor since a bad thermostat can result in a cooked ECT sensor.

Okay, so, after a long time and having had the coil replaced ( as advised by technician ) the antenna ring sorted out the problem. A fix which could help, is to lock and unlock the car 5 TIMES, whilst sitting inside - this seems to clear the poor antenna signal and ALLOWS STARTING. I wish I had known this before - would have saved time AND confirmed the problem. Works with VW cars as well I think as I suggested this to a lady having problems with her Polo - started ok after locking and unlocking 5 times.
