Air filter vacuum hose connection

Post by dantana »

My Haynes book says nothing about this:

Does anyone know where this air filter vacuum hose nipple connects on the other side? I've traced and traced but can't find the other nipple connection.

Thanks in advance......btw, love this website.

Hi Datana and welcome to the site.

I have never seen that connection on any other 850. Do you have a CEL or is the car running rough?

CEL. Car was purchased in California, so there may be extra emissions add ons. When the engine light went on, I checked under the hood and the hose had become disconnected via a dried out and crumbled elbow connector. I ran a diagnostic and sure enough it was an emission code. When I tried to fix it, the other side popped off it's nipple and now I can't find where to reconnect it. I've got a hose put together waiting to be reconnected.

I have a 98 S70 T5 so not familiar with 850's but yours look like a NA? Does it pull air in and what are the codes so others can try to better help? How short was the entire line as there is a unit with several vacuum hoses tied into it on my car under the Air Intake hose which runs to the exhaust area in the back going to the Turbo. That vacuum unit is in front of to the left side of the ABS Module. The mount is broken so it is just hanging out in that area.

Yup. That thing always breaks @ the top. Connects to a black vacuum line that goes/connects underneath the airbox. Best thing to do is pull the airbox out, turn it upside down and look for the other nipple. Never seen this throw a code though.

Thanks a mil. Will fix it tomorrow and reset the CEL to see if that's the culprit.

Hi, I'm also in the process of putting my vacuum lines back together. So, it looks like that top port just connects to the vacuum port on the other side of the air box, near the bottom. Was that a black plastic vacuum line by any chance?

I'm also trying to figure out what to connect the bottom port to. The connection in the photo looks like one of the white vacuum lines that come from the vacuum tee mounted on top of the throttle body. Would that be correct? thanks.
