I just saw a bluetooth audio receiver w/3.5mm female plug

I was trolling eBay last night buying a bunch of small stuff and ran across a bluetooth audio receiver with a 3.5mm female plug in it. So, from what I understand, I can get one of those, do the cassette tape deck mod, plug the cord into the bluetooth adapter, turn on my phone and sync it to the bluetooth, and play music right off of my phone.

So, here's the plan. When I get it in from eBay (under $20), I will plug it into my newly modded SC-816 old as& stereo, and see how it works. If it works well, I will report back on this thread...

Has anyone else tried this?

One of my friends did this on his Civic. The sound quality (from an iPhone) isn't great, but it does work.

We notice the same with the Camry with built in Bluetooth - sound quality is definitely better via USB or auxiliary input. Bluetooth just doesn't have the bandwidth for great sounding music.

The jury is in. Got the bluetooth receiver today. Hookup up very quickly. To me it sounds like an FM radio station. A far cry from the crisp clean sound I get from my cable. So for me, I'm going to use the cable. The cassette adapter sounds better than the bluetooth receiver. Just doesn't have the band width.

On a possitive note, I figured out that my power amp was not hooked up so I connected it today. The sound is a little deeper and kicks a little harder. Not a big difference from the Premium Sound System but it is noticable.

Haha, yeah...both of our new cars don't sound too amazing over Bluetooth streaming. It sounds fine for Pandora, but some songs just sound like they're being played through the chintzy little speakers on my laptop. Not much depth, and you get that "compressed" sound.

I have my Pandora set to high quality and it sounds pretty good. I have 4G LTE or whatever Verizon calls it. The thing I'm having problems with is my Pandora pauses when my phone is off and the song ends. I have to power the phone one to get the next song to start. Really stinks. Then when I plug in my phone charger it buzzes.

I've had cheap chargers that did that before. I had one for my old laptop that would do it when plugged into external speakers; the other wouldn't.

Verizon's 3G service here is so pathetic that sometimes Pandora lags. It doesn't even use that much bandwidth, even on the high quality setting -_-

The problem is with the quality of parts, I am sure you guys are trying to go with a low cost set up because of the cassette mod.
but 90 to 100 dollars for a new HU like Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer will up the quality quite a bit as well. The streaming thing is another issue. Here in Toronto were surrounded by towers so the connection is fine. I still just connect my iPhone to the Bluetooth and play my own music. And Again quality always costs you more

My Pandora quality is fine and does not skip or lag. The problem is that the phone has some kind of background setting that pauses Pandora when a song ends.

Also, the lighter adapter I have is a Belkin, which I thought would be good.
