Were you able to get it right?ptaylor-01 wrote: I'm also trying to figure out what to connect the bottom port to. The connection in the photo looks like one of the white vacuum lines that come from the vacuum tee mounted on top of the throttle body. Would that be correct? thanks.

Hi, I'll go on the assumption that the top line is the thin black plastic one that connects to the port on the other side (below air filter).
I'm still trying to figure out what the bottom port goes to, as well as the 2 vacuum right above the fan shroud. One is the purple one that goes all the way back to the valve mounted on the exhaust manifold. I would need to figure out what other line connects to that device over the fan shroud, as well as whether the purple one goes on the top or bottom port.
Any guidance appreciated, thanks.

dantana,
I have same problem on my 97 850 non turbo. Yesterday noticed the rubber connector to the air box had disintegrated and the black hose was not connected at the other end. I will look under the box to find lower attachment. My problem, where to get new rubber hose connector. Would the local auto parts store carry or do I need to order from one of the sites linked from this site. I wonder if this is the cause of a P0172 code I have just started getting the other day?
Thanks

Those ports go to a small temperature sensitive valve inside the air box. One port goes to the vacuum T and the other to a vacuum can that operates a flapper valve. When you have cold air in the air box the valve opens and sends vacuum to move the flapper valve to block the cool intake and open the warm side (The silver tube going to the exhaust manifold).
General opinion on MVS is that you get better mileage and power without the heat even in cold climates.
I have completely removed mine including the flapper valve and it doesn't set any codes.

Found this old post when I was looking for a spare part to my V70 from -97. In my Haynes book there is a picture (don´t know how to insert pictures, sorry) of the vacuum hose connector that sits on the air filter lid and connects at the bottom, as the pictures in the replies show. But I can´t for the life of me find the spare part number for the connector anywhere. Does anybody know?
Could I use this perhaps?: https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/a ... m/1032833/ It doesn´t look the same, but perhaps it does the job anyway?
Thanks!
