850 GLT Cooling Issue...help!

Post by teamcrossworks »

For the last 3 months I've been nursing a slow leaking radiator. During this time I've been adding fluid to keep it at the proper level... though a few times it got somewhat low. Once it started to overheat (steam coming out of the venting coolant tank). I shut down the car, let it cool and added fluid (almost 2 tank fulls). Anyway I changed the radiator thinking this would solve all my problems but atlas.

I am now experiencing an overheating issue... :(

Symptoms:
Runs fine when car in motion (air flow through radiator)
Temperature gauge starts to creep to the 3/4 mark if sitting too long
Fan turns on with AC and will bring down the temp from 3/4 mark when needed
I assume since the gauge is working properly the sensor is
Conclusion...Fan seems to not turn on by computer

Thoughts?

Thanks.

The cooling fan relay is the large realy under the edge of that upper fan shroud trim. Make sure the two connector with the yellow wires is plugged in well., Check that the wires themselves are plugged up on their connectors. The insulating covering of those terminals disintegrates and the wires are not carried onto the connections of relay. I have seen this several times when the shroud is off for repairs and afterward the fan skips low speed, gets hot enough for high speed to kick on and then the fans goes off again. The low speed wire is loose when I see that.

Thank you, I'll check the connections. That would be great if it was a simple fix.
