Looking at 850 and 98 V70 Wagons.
Things I would like, but are not deal breakers:
~$3000
I would love a red one, but not going to kill myself finding one
a V70 T5M would be fantastic.
Not looking for a project car. I need a reliable driver.
I would like to avoid a car that smells like a smoker. I know these cars are old and you can't guarantee a 100% non smoker car unless you're the original owner, but my wife is 100% averse to a 'smelly' car and she will be involved in the purchase.
Nothing rusting or rotting away.
No AWD cars (unless you've recently replaced all the bits that go bad...)
I would prefer a Turbo (222hp) or higher, but will consider an NA one as long as it's a manual.
I am in Salem and will travel up to 250 miles for one. 500 miles for something perfect though.

Chapel,
Jim (JRL) has a 99 v70 for sale on XC70. http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthrea ... an-leather
If this isn't what you want, he can probably source what you're looking for. He's well know on here, Swedespeed, XC70, etc.
Are you the same Chapel on VWVortex? If so, seen many of your posts!
Best,
Chris

I am the same. Yes... and if you're on the VWVortex, you'd be hard pressed NOT to see me.
Also, I forgot to mention I have no interest in AWD versions. Sounds like too much of a headache and I don't need the 'extra traction'. I'll consider one if it's not in need of repairs and has been recently fixed... but would rather not have one

Still check w/ Jim, he's a great resource from what I've seen.
I wanted a P2 v70, no AWD too (same reasons as you). I couldn't find one that I liked for 6 months. I ended up with an XC and happy so far, which is about 2 months. Gas mileage isn't great (21mpg), but it has plenty of go for me and it's very safe (for the kiddies).

Thanks. I'm waiting for the guy to come buy my Roadmaster (in the next three weeks or so) to have the cash to blow on a new one. I'll bother him when I'm a little closer. I'm trying to open a dialog with some sellers who may be having a hard time selling right this second. I also want to move quickly once my car is gone so I can keep my plates (Sentimental value)

The low pressure turbos are also fine beasts with around 190hp, though not certain if these are mated with front wheel drive only (perhaps with 850GLT only)
Current cars VW Transporter 2.5TDI, 2010 XC90 D5 R Design
I'm torn on the LPTs... I find low pressure turbos to be more of an 'afterthought' on many cars...
To me, the complexity of adding a turbo to these cars isn't worth the 20ish horsepower... however it IS worth ~55-72hp... and with a RICA tune, it's worth 132hp
that said, I wouldn't mind a normally aspirated one with a manual. I could focus more on handling.
I don't suppose there's any aftermarket ITBs for these?
