You guys are da bomb. I just cleared the codes on A1 port, and the flashing arrow is gone. Thanks very much, me happy now.

Are you saying that when the gear selector is in "N" the car goes in reverse :?:

If it keeps coming back on (the amber arrow/CEL) its the well-known ABS module problem.

Not on these cars. When abs/tracs module fails it triggers abs/tracs lights. :!:

Depends of how much it's failing...it can produce intermittent or not working speedometer.

Well, I thought I had the arrow gone but it came back. The code is 222 S2 solenoid circuit open. Is there a fix for this? The tranny seems to work fine, I cleaned the pnp switch. Thanks for the help

I'm sorry to squawk but bumping a thread after 2 minutes is a bit out of line. It isn't like there is a huge office building full of highly paid Volvo specialists waiting to immediately jump to your aid. We are all volunteers, this includes the members and even the moderators.

That said, you need to download the factory service manual that is hosted on this site. It is specific to a '95 model but it is equally as applicable to your '94 in every way. The manual is here:

https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/downlo ... vo_850.zip

Once you unzip the manual and go through the layers of sub folders you need to open and read the pdf file named Auto Trans Diagnosis. There are some tests that you really can't accurately do without a breakout box but many you can.

The manual has a good diagnostic tree for each error code. If the problem comes and goes I would suspect a dirty edge connector on the ECU or a dirty connector going to the transmission.
