Sounds like just the joint. If this is the case, be sure and check the inner core of the housing for a wear pattern from the old bearings. This wear pattern can figure into the wear of new bearings of shorter life. If this isn't the case, then disregard this input. :D .
I have a cv boot leak, Replacing it would require removing axle and working with axle components. I am taking notes for what tasks to include in my suspension project since it takes me weeks from start to finish. I have a 16 year old car with 125,000 of urban mileage. All original and stock.
