Power Steering Rattle

The is a rattling sound coming from the area near my power steering pump when the engine is cold. When my 2000 S40 warms up, the sound goes away. It sound like marbles rattling around in a plastic salad bowl. Any thoughts?

Has the fluid level been checked in PS reservoir?
If it is full then flushing the PS system is a cheap first effort before condemning the pump. The fluid ages and it can get the where it aerates to easily and the pump will whine or rattle if it cavitates from passing vapor bubbles.

The pump was fine. On further inspection is was the alternator and serpentine belt tensioner. All is fine now. Thanks!
