Can I get better than 18 mpg from my 2009 XC70?

Post by AlanS »

So, I guess I thought I would get better mpg out of my 2009 xc70 3.2 AWD. Now, combo highway and town 18mpg. How should I drive to get better mpg? Or is this the best I can expect?

Very little info to go on. If you drive 90% hiway and you live in Oklahoma City I would say you should do better.
If you live in Oakland and work in downtown San Francisco and commute at rush hour times then maybe that is pretty good.

Actually considering selling the car (after 3 weeks ownership)...Never thought that the mpg's would be this poor... Now I have to figure out how to sell a car that I bought from the dealer (CPO)...

I own a 98 V70 AWD and the car gets 18 MPG in around town driving, 25 on the highway. Afraid most Volvo's are high mpg vehicles.

Have tires and brakes checked. Reset fuel trim adaption and get an ECM software upgrade performed. My 02 S60 gets
33 mpg/hwy

So, this is not something I can CHANGE to improve mpg, it's only a # (process) that, if dysfunctinal, can effect mpg. If the car is not throwing codes (which it isn't), then nothing can be done (besides selling the car!!!).
