Hey! Depends on the year and head unit. I recently installed one on my 07 v70r and it wasn't too bad. It took maybe an hour. What are you working with? What model head unit?

And what year and model is your car? Do you have the cup holder now and it just isn't working anymore or are you replacing the little cubby space with a cup holder?

Pry out the pen holder bezel, pry out the shifter bezel. Remove 2 T-25 torx. Pull climate control module down then out. Remove 2 more torx screws. Remove the radio. The rest should be self explanatory.

Thank you I'll give it a try over the weekend. FYI it is a 2001 V70 XC replacing a broken cupholder.

You will need a T25 torx screw driver, a flatheat screwdriver and a philips screwdriver. Remove all cds in the stereo before starting. Begin by putting the key in the ignition and turning it to the second position and put the car in drive. Then do yourself a favor and disconnect the negative battery cable. This will allow you to disconnect the stereo and climate control without risking any electrical issues. Pop up the gear shifter bezel from the rear with the flathead screwdriver. Mine popped up just by lifting it by hand so try this first. Then lift up the bezel as far as you can and press in the 4 tabs with the flathead screwdriver that hold it to the gear shifter handle cover (leather) and remove it. This will give you the room to remove the stereo. There are 6 torx screws at the bottom of the stereo but only 2 hold the stereo in. The two that need to be removed are near the middle and don't drop them. Now you should be able to remove the stereo by lifting it up from the bottom and pulling it out. You may have to lift up a little more while pulling it out to get it past the lip that holds the top in. Once you have the stereo out, disconnect all of the electrical connectors. Remove the stereo bezel by depressing the tabs around the outside. Turn the stereo upside down and remove the 5 or 6 torx screws that hold the back cover on. You may have to remove the climate control and stereo from the frame. Depress the tab that holds the cupholder in and remove it. Installation is the reverse. Good luck, took me about an hour.
