Cup Holder Problem

My 2001 V70 has a dashboard cup holder that doesn't want to return to it's closed position. I'm sure there is some kind of spring hooking mechanism that locks it in place when you press it in to the dashboard and opens it when you press it in and release it. I've looked for something on the holder that looks like a catch or something similar but can't see anything.

Can anyone tell me how to fix or adjust this?

Sorry No Adjustment. I just bought a used one for My 2001 V70 X/C. It is gear driven with a latch arm all the way on the rearside. The latch is most likely broken. it is in the way when not closed so I finally replaced it.

I bought a used one, as mine just had the empty storage "nook". I then youtube'd how to install it. It looks like a lot of work to install it, but its not. You do have to take the climate control out, and the radio, as the cupholder attaches to the radio.
Used I paid $20.
