850 Engine Swap

Post by NitroK »

Just purchase a 850 96 t5 engine and planning to install into my current 850 96 GLE. Changing the entire engine bay wiring to T5. Do I still need to change the internal wiring or can I use the existing GLE internal wiring since both are OBD-II. Thanks.

Cam sensor is the same. Check the knock sensors for likeness. As far as the crank sensor it should be the same too. It's only when things went to '99 when NA that sensors changed to Denso. The engine computer may be the next thing to ask about. I have a friend in Sydney that did the same swap from a GLT to T5 engine and he said the computer adapted to the higher boost engine. He retained the T5 turbo (is it 16T?)

i'm installing an entire engine with wiring into the engine bay. Just need to confirm that I can still use the same internal wiring - dashboard, interior stuff.

turbo is TD04-15G
