My issues have returned *Bang head

I'm having a starting issue again. Last time replacing the plugs fixed the problem instantly. What happens is, it starts right away, no hesitation, but immediately runs very rough. after 15-30 seconds, it settles out and runs great. not a single issue after its warm. Even if I drive to the store, car sits for 20 minutes or so, starts great, ruins great. I will say, it really smells like it's running rich. Last time I cleaned out the ISV and it did nothing, replaced the plugs and the problem was gone. that was a couple months ago. I only drive the car about 100 miles a week. You have probably been asked this stuff before but do you have a Check Engine Light on? If so, what code numbers did you pull?

You problem sounds a lot like a bad MAF sensor. Try completely unplugging the MAF sensor and see what happens.

ok. 2 quick things, if I unplug it, what should happen? Secondly, No check engine light... have not checked codes, I'm really all that certain how that works.

Unplug it and try to start the car and see if it idles OK. Do not unplug the sensor while the car is running. If it doesn't run like a baby deer on ice, then you've got a bad MAF sensor as Lee suspects.

The check engine light will come on when you do this, but the code can easily be reset.

I had similar symptoms with a bad coolant temperature sensor. Does your car get up to operating temperature within 5 minutes of driving and then stay there?
