I forced this and broke it - how hard is replacement? I am no mechanical whiz but I am not totally inept either (nor usually as much of a klutz!).
Seems like this could be reasonably straightforward - is there much to dismantle? What should I watch out for? Any airbag issues?
Any info on parts required would be much appreciated too.

Tilt/telescope lever on 2001 V70 broken - replacement?

Good luck. I have a 98 but I bet its pretty much the same. Looked under the dash, was going to pop the slip joint apart to gain the extra 1/2 inch to get the lever on, no dice. It was going to take a major disassembly to do it that way. One of the guys on another forum just forced it off and replaced it that way, he said he broke one in the process but the second one worked. I don't see how, it just seems too tight to me, but I haven't got real serious about it yet. It is agrevating for something so small, yet so hard to replace, to be broken. Hopefully someone will chime in with the easy, two minute fix that I couldn't figure out. Please, someone?

Thanks - it would be really nice to discover there is a quick and easy fix. I did find the earlier post but couldn't figure out exactly what the solution was except it would be a good idea to buy two the the levers!

OK, thanks for the cryptic reply. The whole intend of posting the question is to find out the "proper" way to put it on. Are you supposed to loosen the column enough to slip it on, or do you somehow pull the lower dash assembly forward, or is it a case where an indy or dealer would be best suited to handle it?

You should remove the bottom, it just doesn't "slip on" which is why I said buy ONE and have a mechanic do itMO-T5 wrote:OK, thanks for the cryptic reply.
