740 turbo, how reliable?

HIhi,
Im looking into getting a 740 turbo for my next car, i like driving them, but how reliable are they, i'm a student, and i cant afford too many repairs...
Uhm, What years are good with the 740 turbos, and how many k's will the engines/turbos last (im australian, so i prefer kilometer measurement, but if ya cant b bothered just use mile!!!)

Also, how much is it to service a 740 turbo compared to a N/A
And are there any usual faults for a 740 turbo to occur

I own a 1991 740 turbo and except for the problem I am having currently which I feel will turn out to be something minor as the car was running extremely well four days ago, it has been a very reliable automobile for 309,000 miles. Still starts right up and would not hesitate to drive it for long distances. Just keep the oil clean and perform periodic preventative maintainance. Take care, JB

I've got a 1986 volvo 740 turbo and I love it. It has more than enough power to get me into trouble!!
I must admit that I got mine cheap because the woman who had it didn't know how to maintain it and the Swedish dealers reamed her in repair charges.
One I got everything straightened out, it has ran flawlessly for the last 2 years with very minimal maintenance.
Volvo's are built really well and I would expect it might need a lot of repairs when it gets up around 300,000 km.

wha tis the difference with a 740 and a 940?

and would you guys recc the turbo>?

just like this dude....I cant have major problems......

will the turbo use more gass....or less.....?

prolly more if I hav emy foot in it!

but with normal driving...isn't the turbo more efficiant? and better on gas?


when I shop for one......what problem areas do I look for/?


any thing> ? or just normal how it drives accellarates and stops kinda thing.....
