It comes out of the bottom of the A/B boxes, There is a hole on the cover where it should be plugged in to keep it from corroding.

Ahh thank you (again), you're smart, very clued up. Though I wish a pic were posted on here so I can see exactly what I am meant to be looking at more clearly.

So from reading at the start of this thread, it's the number of blinks that tells you the mileage.
I am 100% a woman.

This may be dumb but I can't find a button. I bought a 1995 850 for my 17 yr old but the odometer does not work. The post on how to repair the odometer is clear and I can follow the photos and dialog. My problem is although I can find the ECU and I can find box A and I see several numbered holes for the fly wire. I don't see a button. Can anyone explain were the button is and what it looks like.

Ok I feel a little less stupid, the button and led bulb are missing. Were the photo shows a button I have a hole with what looks like a copper diode at the bottom and were the pitcure shows a bulb I have a hole with what looks like a black screw head. Also the end of the flywire that does not fit into the sockets is loose. Is there a way to read the mileage without the button? can I go junkyard crawling and replace the piece with the missing bulb and button? and should the loose end of the wire be attached to something?
