What Can It Handle - The White Block

Reading another post about some out of control boost got me to thinking. If one were to totally build a white block motor, special rods, crank, valve springs, turbo(s) etc how much HP and torque could be gotten out of this motor? No, I have no plans, just curious. Can these things be pushed to 5 or 600 HP?

I seem to recall this question a few years ago on swedespeed and I think someone was saying that the cylinder walls wouldn't be able to handle more than 450 or 500 – but I could be way off.

More than you could ever *reasonably* put to the ground through a FWD transmission. ;)

The P80 turbo (high pressure turbo) cars have strengthened cylinder walls, thus the .1 liter difference in displacement vs. N/A.
