The exact reason for the piston is not known, but here's a thread with some details: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 33&start=0

I've been using Castrol High Mileage oil for years. Since the odo broke, it was hard to set a schedule for changing the oil but at the time it was burning/leaking oil fairly well and the oil itself was pretty much "always fresh". I picked up a ten-pack of filters from FCP to make it easy to change them out.

What? A Volvo leaking oil? GASP!
This is a great example of just not giving up on something. I wanted to a few times on my own, but I stuck with it, and my brother's now got a great car to go off to college with.
It's my hope that it lasts him through that (and breaks less than when I had it in college), and then I can put it up in the garage and rebuild it a bit at a time.

Man I love that red. I think everyone should drive a Turbo Volvo wagon for 90 days and see if they can give it up. I know I love mine. My daughter's S70 is Red and it looks great as well.

Now that I've been driving the S60R for 8 months, I have to say I do miss having a wagon. Not that I've needed the extra space, but there's something very cool about a wagon that'll whomp a lot of other cars on the road. Having a fast sedan? Rather common. Having a fast wagon? People are flabbergasted!

Never had the time to stop there but I still plan on it one day. Dr. Brutal has mentioned it a few times. It would have been nice to have both of my red Volvos make an appearance - maybe if the Gods are smiling upon me, I'll get the wagon resurrected. Still trying to sort it all out.

I've seen a red v70 up on craigslist for a cheap price the other day... Its a "teenage joint" before 11:00pm, once the kids are out the place is pretty awesome! We should do a chicago 'burbs meet up soon
