I know this is an older post and I want to buy one from eBay, could someone have a look at the link below and let me know if these look fake or Be Aware or *don't buy* kinda a thing? I do have an XC90 2004

Thanks

Your link is to a generic page of the units...so it's really hard to give a sure fire response to 101 sellers...what I would suggest is simply buy from the one who has a very higher rating from the buyers (I know that is ebay 101) and a price you can deal with. Stay away from the ali-express (as I did) because the recourse for solutions is weak...and it's the same sellers going through another outlet...atleast ebay we can try to fight with if you get junk.

I got mine in less then 10-14 days from china...and I still argue they are OEM quality just sold out the back door...those prices are half of what I paid on ebay 1.5 years ago so how can you go wrong if it works!

The guy I got from on ebay's store has nothing in it...stating he's updating it. He had great feedback. I emailed him about support for an issue I had with the software (I resolved) and he emailed back from a URL that has this as his business:

http://www.obddiagtool.com/ and I quick search on the site reveals this at a great price: http://www.obddiagtool.com/volvo-vida-dice-p-10.html (again half of what I paid).

Sorry if I"m violating rules on posting ebay, for sales ect...I'm just trying to steer fellow Volvo owners to a good Vida Dice seller...

PM for direct answers to questions.

BTW there was a bit of a discussion on forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?172106-Where-are-the-best-DICE-units about different DiCE units, e.g. OEM vs AM.

For $155 I'll probably roll the dice on this... http://www.ebay.com/itm/VOLVO-VIDA-DICE ... ab&vxp=mtr
If I go for it I'll report back with my progress.

My new Dice unit is now dead. No power to the unit (LEDs are off). I checked with another OBDII tester and I get power from the car. The interface works fine. Something is wrong inside the Dice unit. I have not seen any fuse that I can replace externally.

Since it is supposed to be warranty (one year) I have contacted the seller on Alibaba Express.
Finally I got through after five days of trying and was given the “run around”. I described the condition to them and they asked for “screenshots of the unit to help diagnose the problem” ... :)

Bottom line there is no warranty. They have changed the wording of the former 12 months warranty in the product description to “Service: Ensure 1 year quality “ ...

Be aware, if you buy directly from them you have no recourse if something happen.

The name of the store on Alibaba Express; Digiobd Electron Technology Co, Ltd
And the company behind; Shenzhen Digiobd Electron Technology Co., Ltd.

I knew that I was taking a chance when I bought it. I assume my lost. It is lesson well learn. As another poster said, it is better to do business with North American distributors.

I just wanted to share my little story with you.

My first Dice unit from the same company was dead on arrival. I placed a warning in Volvo Mechanics, Parts, Dealers & Shops (Volvo Mechanics, Parts, Dealers & Shops > Volvo Parts Dealers > Shenzhen Digiobd Electron Technology Co. Ltd.) not to deal with them as their support was poor.

I ended up buying another unit from an eBay seller which so far is still operational.

I bought it in November 2011. I should have done more research on their credentials. We all do our mistakes.

You can choose "Test Communication" and it will of course fail, then screen capture this image.

Perhaps you'll get lucky.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I closed my account with Alibaba Express. I got tired of trying with Digiobd ElectronTechnology Co Ltd.

They are not of good faith. In my opinion they are trained to wear you down.

I have a generic OBD2 reader with USB connection to my laptop. It is the type that works with Scantool.net or other generic OBD2 diagnostic software for general codes and data readout. (I prefer Digimoto Lite app right now). I am just wondering if the interface I have would work with the VIDA software? I am going to try it soon, but just want to know if anyone has success with a unit like this.

AFAIK the VIDA SW uses the J2534-2 interface. Unless your cable supports full J2534-2 you'll be SOL, see http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread ... &p=1979568 for example.
