Is it possible to lift 99 V70 XC?

Post by neworleans » Wed Nov 25, 2009 9:54 am

Hello everyone,

I am thinking about lifting my 99 V70 for maybe 6inches.
Has anyone done anything like that?
Is it possible to lift it like in the pics?
How much are the lift kits and will I need new shocks as well?
I'd appreciate any advise.

Thank you.

+1

When you call ask for Lucky, he has forgotten more about Volvo suspensions than I will ever know.

Resurrecting an oooooold thread here, but any progress on this??

I'm looking at '98 v70 XC Turbo, and want to do the same thing, just more modest, say 2-3". I've heard that the front could be lifted via spacers at the top of the strut towers, but that the rears would be more difficult.

I haven't looked into this too much, and it may have been covered in another thread, but according to the write up IPD gave it they specifically worked with the 2005+ XC70 due to the new on the fly chassis controls...
New on the production XC70 for 2005 is Volvo's remarkable Four-C adaptive chassis ride system with Sport and Comfort modes. Taking this concept to the next level, ipd developed a custom fully independent air ride suspension offering 4-inches of adjustability via dash-mounted buttons. Add in the ipd designed 4-inch lift kit and the XC70 AT can ride up to 8 inches higher than the production Volvo XC70. To keep body roll in check, ipd 25-mm front and 28-mm rear anti-sway bars have been fitted
Not sure if they ever did produce any parts for this to sell. I believe it was just a prototype to see what was possible. But I've been wrong before...

Yeah the IPD project was a (beautiful!) one off, sadly. They don't make, or have plans to make, any parts that would work as a "lift kit" per se.

This is in the works, and once it's built and tested, I'll update!

Any updates to this? I’m looking building a bit sturdier V70 on a 2006 we’ve owned since brand new and always dealer maintained. It rides pretty low now gets pretty neat up on backroads when we access trail heads here in the Pacific Northwest. I want to “beef up” slightly with 2” lift, stiffer/sturdier suspension, and slightly larger and beefier tires — nothing too drastic. This will eventually be passed down to my son as his first car so keeping it road-worthy and reliable will be important too.

Thanks for input — I’ve owned a 2004 S60 as well and we love our Volvo!!!
