Fairly simple dash rattle fix
Looked at all the suggestions and tried this, I cut a couple of chunks of 1/8 aluminum about 3cm square, bent it gently in the middle and fitted it under the front of the dash under the window defrost grills on the sides, there is a screw that holds the dash pad there and I replaced it with a longer one that I screwed into the chunk of aluminum. I then drilled a couple of holes through the aluminum into the door frame and screwed that down tight, it sure stopped the rattles but I will wait to see how it lasts

Nice thinking. Ill be following this. I keep balking at Amazon.com's $15 no-squeak tape.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.
Also -> Amazon link. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

The dash rattle was muffled because of every other suspension noise, now after new suspension, there is a chorus that changes with road conditions, D, N, stop, take-off, you name it.
If you are from Vienna, record it and sell it under an artist's name who is dead as an experimental music. No Strauss, he was just Waltz.
I can't weight for this fix.

Then there's this one, still requires the effort of removing the dash but better addresses the problem of crumbling plastic.

Why bracket, and not just fastening dash to the metal body, screw or rivet?cn90 wrote:

The previous owner folded some kind cardboard material and wedge it between the glass and the dash at the very edge where they meet each other, it is not a very elegant repair but it worked. I trimmed off the excess so it is barely visible. I just learn not to look at his "ghetto" repair LOL.
I don't have a photo of my "setup" yet, but the idea is like the diagram below, get something and wedge it at that spot:
