Please help I.D. steering part...2000 S40

There is a thump coming from left front whenever I run over any small road object. I took a picture of this assembly, which looked irregular. Please advise. Please see the pictures.

1st photo is tie rod 2nd and 3rd appear to be drive shaft boot that is seperated. The noise might be the lower ball joint. To check lift the wheel off the ground and you should be able to check for excess play
