Iridium Spark Plugs
Iridium Spark Plugs
I am considering upgrading my 2007 S40 to iridium spark plugs from OEM. Will iridium plugs help performance? I have heard rumors that upgrading plugs will make your car run rough. What is the truth?

The stock ones are better and sometimes the copper does just as well if not better. Just have to change it out more frequently as the tip is not as hard and wear quicker. Check for Heat Range as some allow for different heat range plugs depending on driving conditions/style. I have seen Platinum's go 100,000 miles and the car still does not run rough but after changing them the car runs much quieter and faster with improved mileage. Iridiums, not sure the expense justifies any potential benefits?

I ran iridium plugs one time on my old NA s70 and did not have any problems, but I wasn't paying attention to gas mileage. They did last a long time.

I am changing my plugs...(99 s70 t5) and in the #1 cylinder there was oil , the top of the head was clean...clean....
The spark plug did feel loose. I am chalking it up to that....and ideas?
What is the gap on the stock volvo plugs?
