Severe Exhaust Drone with Free Flow Cat Downpipe

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Severe Exhaust Drone with Free Flow Cat Downpipe

Post by theblackanvil »

Recently installed a Viva Performance 3" down pipe with a free flow cat (very similar to IPD) on my 2004 V70 and I am getting a very nasty exhaust drone from it at approx 2400 RPM's. Tried weighting it but that hasn't calmed it down much. Anybody with a similar install having exhaust drone issues? Thanks.

How is the pipe resting on the front mounts?
The P2 exhaust system is supposed to rest on the mounts at the front to free the flex section and reduce that drone.
I just installed a DP on my 2004 V70R which is similar if not the same as your pipe and it has no drone.

Jimmy57, thanks for the response. I'm not sure now. I will check. What type did you install?

The downpipe hanger rods are in the bottom holes of the rubber mounts. The downpipe is very snug. I doubt that front mount does anything to help suspend that downpipe.
