I know most 90's era Volvo trannys call for Dexron IID or IIE fluids. Is is correct to say that all the Dexron specifications that are higher than IID and IIE (such as III all the way up to VI) can be used instead of specification II, because they have superseded it?
That is the impression I get from the general Motors website:
http://www.oilspecifications.org/general_motors_gm.php
I ask because I want to use a Castrol fluid that "meets Dexron III and Mercon requirements."
Thanks!

D-III is fine.
D-IV is low viscosity and is backwards compatible also but I am not fond of the lower viscosity on older high milage vehicles.
The fluid you chose will be fine.
