In the video it sounds like it's coming from deep inside the dash. is there any vibration associated with noise? check all of your motor mounts, especially the ones on top of the engine and under the crank pulley by the passenger wheel.

No vibration in the dash lol. The dash of course needs to be replaced. It sounds like something is stuck in a fan and it keeps smacking it.

Check lower engine mount under timing belt.

Your BF should be on here talking to the fellows , it may help him to better understand and direct him where to look for the problem .

I am going to pretend like that little comment didn't piss me off.

1. Don't make sexist comments.
2. I am not one of those prissy girls who doesn't like to get their hands dirty. When he is at the shop working on my car, I am right there with him the ENTIRE time, asking questions and seeing if I can help.
3. Are you saying that I am too stupid to relay information back and forth to him?

So back to the subject at hand. I was driving and the bf was listening for the noise in the dash. He said it was coming from the roof of the car where the light switch is. We opened the sun roof to see if we could find anything else but he is pretty sure the noise is coming form that area. Anyone have an idea? He wants to take the panel out to see if he finds anything but this noise was not there in the summer.

Have a sunroof? It's more than possible something in there is being vibrated at the right frequency to do that.

The fact that it occurs at both 35 and 70 mph rules out anything spinning in the engine/driveline.

Nobody here is making any personal remarks or comments. We are trying to help you as much as we can.
It would greatly benefit you and the person working with you on your car if both of you participate here and get firsthand information.
This might even help get your car in shape sooner :D
Thanks

Wow. I think you took that the wrong way.
I've always found people on this board to be most helpful and respectful. Be they male or female.
We're lucky to have such a big group willing to participate.

@ jblackburn: Thanks for the response. As he was also thinking it wasn't anything to do with the engine area because he was just in there a few months ago replacing the water pump. But it was summer at that time so I am not sure if they are related.

@ regent: I completely agree that he needs to log in also and post some things but he is very busy and that is why I am forced to do it. If I dont, it could be months before he finds time to look it up.... I am just trying to get my car running quietly again.

@ alschnertz: I am also happy to see a forum of this size where people can be helpful also but he has to understand that this is the internet. I can not hear his voice or inflection so yes I took the comment the wrong way but at the same time I want to make sure I was not being disrespected just because I am a WOMAN.
