Ridiculously lowered prices *SOLD*

Post by SimLyons »

850R engine in excellent shape with transmission (auto) in outstanding condition and IPD chip that does as advertised. It's such a nice package that I dislike the idea of selling them separately. $1000 for all. I build the box, deliver to shipper (you choose...or come and get) and you pay the freight.

Engine only: $500.00 1997 850-R with IPD chip. This can come with the trans or without. I changed engine oil and filter (Mobil 1 and Mann OE) more than necessary, 3K to 5K miles. Never pulled trailers or overloaded it. The engine was (is) the crown jewel of the car. I was planning on another 200K at least. The belts were changed in October, along with the water pump and tensioners. Replaced all tappets 21K miles ago to rid a "tapping" sound. The engine comes complete with starter, alternator, AC compressor, manifolds and turbo. This engine was maintained by the book or better.

Trans only: $300.00 Maintained as the engine. The last 100% flush was also in October. NO problems, ever, with the transmission!

EMS w/IPD Chip only: $200.00 What can you say about a chip/EMS? They work or they don't. These do!

I'm not a buyer, just posting the obvious (anyone looking for an engine is going to want to know at least the basics up front):

How many miles on the engine? What year (it matters if someone buys just the engine)?

How many miles on the transmission? Did you ever tow with it? What was your fluid change interval?

How many of those miles were put on by you?

Does this price include the turbo and other accessories, or just the long block?

I know you have started other threads about this sale, maybe you covered some of this in one of the other threads, maybe link to those.

Yes, of course the price includes the turbo, manifolds, engine mounts (trans. mts. too if you take them together), starter, alternator, Air Cond. compressor, power steering pump,Air Filter and housing if wanted, and anything else I can get on the pallet and tied down. Such as air filter and housing, brand new pcv system. new belts (Timing and Serpentine) with all new tensioners and water pump, thermostat, etc. I'll toss in a radio if you want one (SC816), and even the 6 disc changer. That's enough for what you will pay.... PLUS, you pay shipping costs. Come on out to Bend, Oregon and go skiing on Mt. Bachelor while you are here. 89" of base!

Sooo how many miles are on it? And perhaps a photo or two.
Have been contimplating a new engine.
How much would it be without the ipd ecu. This would be going into an s70 *so I cant use the ecu* and I have an ARD blue so still wouldnt need it.

I wont ask how much without all the other parts on it since that would just be asking you to remove it all since I dont need it all either

Total miles=178K. Pulled the head at 108K to replace valve stem seals and replaced the tappets, too. Everything else was great.

At 176K I did the front end, timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt and the pulleys and tensioners. All Blue Box.

Flushed the trans (99%) in October, Cooling system September (Volvo Blue), Power Steering and Brake fluids drained and flushed in July.

Everything else by the book. Used synthetics. (Mobil 1).

Now, are you saying you don't want or need the alternator, power steering pump, starter, , etc??

I won't do that. I'll keep it for a spare or to sell later first.

And what year is your S70? the 98 and 99s are the same as earlier models. A few of the 2000s, also.

Engine wise, yes the 98s and 99 are similar to the 850 line. Too many things start changing in 00 for them to really be considered the same as pre 99s.
Engine management wise, not even the 98 and 99 are the same, it changed in 98, and changed again in 99.

How much for it without the ipd ecu, if you are willing to separate them.

What I was saying about the things attached to the engine was, I dont really care if they are there or not since id be putting my stuff on it since I know the condition of my alternator and such.

Think you could PM me a price with freight to 32809. Would get it shipped to a friends business since they have a loading dock and forklift. 178k is a bit high for what im looking for, but if the price is right obviously I can work from there.

*Edit;
ouch I just realized you are out in OR... Shipping might kill the deal regardless of the price since im in FL.

Southwest Engines (sell reclaimed not rebuilt) Volvo engines. Vary from 1200 to 1400, depending, ya know!

Mine is $500 plus shipping. I'll strap it on to a pallet I have and cover it. You make arrangements with trucker, or i can try from this end. They WILL need a forklift to get off my garage floor.

My zip is 97701 (Bend, OR)

Eh thanks for the offer, too much hassle and high of a price for that mileage, if it was an RN then I would consider it, but still unsure if I would with the mileage.

After shipping and all id probably be looking close to 700-800, for that id just buy a rebuilt one.
thanks again. Sorry we couldnt make it happen.

I understanding your feelings, but the logic of your math is not current. If you truly build one up replacing all worn parts, as well as the maintenance items (belts, water pumps, AC Compressor, rebuilt cylinder head, turbo, pistons (if needed, rings and rehoning the cylinder walls you'd be over $3,000.00. Guaranteed. Figure labor at a US avg og $75/hr and it adds up, fast.

But I do wish you all the best.
