Got to love Volvo with the easy to repair heater systems :D

Not to be smart and I'm only teasing when I say this but tell that BF of yours you have done all the research (the hard part) so he had better get "un-busy" and fix your car !!

Lol I completely agree. That's why I said I am tempted to just take it to a Volvo dealership and pay for it to be fixed...

...just take it to a Volvo dealership ...
Please don't do that, pkuevor.
Paying the stealership for a small and easy fix like this one just does not compute.

There are two categories of volvo owners:
The first one includes people like us who have more time than money and who love working on cars.

(Now, if you take yours to the stealership, this will automatically place you into the second category...)
This is very serious.
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.

Could it be something loose and vibrating against and maybe coming into slight contact with the spinning fan blades.
As your speed increases the offending piece or item vibrates / moves too close to the spinning blades???????
Would sound worse too if the fan speed is set faster.
A nearby wire or the fan unit housing itself might have a loose part very close to the tips of the rotating fan blades.

Do you have a cabin filter installed or not?
- If not, install a cabin filter.
- Chances are debris gets inside the blower motor itself.

Remove the blower area and clean it for now. D/C battery first!

I didnt see the video earlier cause I was at work. I think I love you!

*gets one one knee with Volvo key chain* will you marry me?

lol

@ nitehawk55: Yeah it certainly sounds like something is caught in the way.

@ regent: LOL stealership. I really don't want to take it there but I can't keep going to work with purple fingers. It hurts. *cry* Maybe I can force the bf to stay home from work one day if I beg him enough...

What does that second category consist of?

If i recall there are little sensors above/beside the "oh sh!t" handles above the front doors that will buzz and also cause the AC and REC lights to flash. prob not the main source of your noise but worth looking into.
1994 850 na green 187k on body, 275k on motor(backwards?), unrestricted airbox, 960 TB, persus wheels, Lowered, IPD poly upper and trans mounts.

Do you have the noise when the blower is not running?

My guess:
The drain pipe in the blower is blocked and water has assembled in the blower housing.
If unlucky, the water will freeze and prevent the fan from moving.

Hi pkuevor,

An addition to my entry yesterday.
Driving through France during summer hollyday 2012 a noise occured, - similar to what is appearing in your video.
The noise was depending on speed and acceleration.

With the few tools available (camping with a tent), the lower inner lining of the dashboard in the passengers side was removed.
A rubber pipe connecting the blower housing to the bulge between the seats was detached from the blower housing.
I found a piece of metal wire somewhere (~ 3mm diameter) and used it for cleaning the drain in the blower.
The blower emptied out about a liter (~=1/4 gallon) of water.

Good luck
