98 VOLVO C70 Map sensor location?

Post by Braxxton401 »

Hello everyone I drive a 1998 volvo c70 and was told by my mechanic and diagnostic tool that i need a new MAP sensor. I have purchased a new sensor but i have no idea of its location, looking at the sensor it looks like pretty simple fix one bolt and one plug. I have tried researching this on the web but i couldnt come accross anything that helps i found one stating that the sensor is located on the passenger side underneath the hood next to the washer fluid resevoir but in my car is not there.
please if anyone can help me out here i would greatly appreciate it . i dont want to bring my car back to my technician since i am still unemployeed thanks to our Modern day America lovely economy  So anything that will save me some bucks i will try to execute myself. SO help please guys my car goes no where under boost.

MAF? It's sometimes called a MAP too. He told you the wrong side. It attaches to the top half of the air box. It measures the volume of air and passes that to the ECU so that it can give the engine the correct air/fuel mix.

See posts about the mass airflow sensor.

If you're referring to BARO sensor, here's a picture of it:

It's moot now because you bought a new one already but I was able to successfully clean it and the code did not come back after resetting it for thousands of miles now and after more than a couple of months. See link below:

orleec, good call! Braxxton401, can you get the code(s) that were triggered? Yes, you can try cleaning the MAF sensor. I've done it, as have many here.
