S60 Head Lights

Post by Christine »

I have a 2006 S60 2.5T AWD and I work at a company where I have to come through a security gate to enter the site. When you come through the gate you have to turn off your headlights and leave your parking lights on. The problem is...if you leave the headlight selection set at parking lights (which is the second setting) and turn off the car and exit the car it does not warn you that you have left your parking lights on. I have done this twice and thanks to caring coworkers I have been warned both times that my lights were left on. I have asked the dealer and called the customer service number but no one seems to know why a $35k car can't warn me that my lights are on but my old $12k Chevrolet could. I am curious if there is a download that will warn me if my lights are on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. :D

It doesn't warn you because - a vast majority of people don't like the DRL's - but they are a proven safety feature; so alot of people would turn the DRL's off and use the 'parking lights'/sidelights - safe in the knowlege that you'd get a warning that you'd left them on - hence..no warning...so safe in the knowledge, your mote likely to leave the DRL's on!

You can get the DRL's turned off - but it will require a software tweak...but then you'd still get no audible warning when your using them maunally.

Can buy after market audible alerts - just google it. however..Volvo being volvo - these 'may' interfere with the onboard diagnostic's/computers etc.
