2001 s40 heating fan speed.

Post by Mario Dinis »

Hi, I just bought a 2001 Volvo s40 and I'm having issues with my heating / ac blower. It seems that the fan has a mind of it's own. it only works well on speed 4 and 5, on all the other speeds it comes and goes into full blast. The other day i had it on position 0 and tapped the speed knob and the fan started to run then stopped. I read here that it could be the blower transistor. Well, I've replaced that part and still does the same thing. Any idea of what's causing this problem and how to correct it?
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks

Also have a 2001 S40 with same fan speed issue.
After much research, and also replacing the Fan Resister, I replaced the complete CCM (Comfort Contro Module) unit with a used unit from ebay. It fixed the problem. If you do that, make sure the appearance and buttons exactly match your CCM. They changed during various years, and some have buttons for heated seats and a DSA, and some do not.
Good luck
