V70xc idle issue
Hi everyone. Trying to figure out a problem before it gets too bad. My 98 v70xc has an interesting problem. When I park the car on an unlevel surface, for example, with the passengers side on the curb and the drivers side on the road, or on the incline of a sloped driveway and I restart after a short stop, the car doesn't want to idle. It takes a minute of feathering the pedal to get going. Then today, while waiting on an upward slope at the oil change place while idling, the idle got progressively worse and worse....nearly stalled. Seemed to be missing. Hasn't triggered an engine light. After the oil change, rolled out on the road no problem. the other times, i've had issues starting it back up while on unlevel surfaces. Today, the startup was in the garage so it started fine. Has a new maf sensor. Any ideas? Thx, Ken

In my mind I'm not coming up with anything related to the incline of the car that would have anything to do with starting and idling other than a fuel pickup problem and that would be rare indeed.
I would check all of the vacuum lines and clean the IAC valve for starters.

My problem is becoming more frequent now. It is always on startup. Yesterday I fired it up and it started bouncing around. Usually I'm able to bring the rpms up by giving it some throttle and it will work its way back to a steady idle in a few seconds and then drive normally. This time it took a bit longer and the CEL came on. It also had a noticeable miss at idle for a bit but that too went away and by the time I got home it was behaving fine. I put my scanner on it and got a code for misfire on every cylinder and two general misfire codes. Nothing else. This morning I went out and she fired up no problem. Car has a new Bosch maf. The plugs wires and cap are all oem. I haven't checked for cam seal leaks or leaks in the dist. cap yet. Coil is original equip and I'm not sure of its operation. I wasn't able to check fuel pressure but it gushes at the rail when Schrader is depressed. It doesn't hold pressure at the rail overnight but it always fires instantly. Any ideas for an intermittent problem. Btw this never happens on a cold engine. It never happens while driving. It's always after I park and restart while the engine is warm. Once I get past the initial stuttering it behaves nicely. And lastly it doesn't happen all the time but is becoming more frequent as of late. Where would you guys start?

Update. It appears that my problem is a bit more predictable than I thought. It only does it when its hot, and if I stop, and then restart the car quickly, like running into pay for gas, I'm fine. If I let 15 to 20 minutes go by, then it misfires. I can get it to run by feathering the trottle and after a minute or so, the idle will level out. It will then miss for a bit, but that too clears out, and she's fine. Starting cold is always fine. 102 of you looked at this.....anyone out there have a suggestion? Thanks in advance!

Lets back up to cover some basic information.
When was the last tune up with new spark plugs, etc?
What brand name and part number are the spark plugs?
If you have changed spark plug wires, distributor, rotor, etc what brand names were those parts?

Try this, after driving the car for a little while when it's running ok, stop, turn off the car, wait a few say 5 or 10 mins and without starting the car press the valve where you check fuel pressure. I think if you get no squirt at all that some fuel return thing is failing and letting the fuel rail drain all the way out. I don't know about Volvo, but my mercedes always has some residual fuel pressure in the rail, even after a couple of hours.
