Adding bluletooth to HU-650?

Post by jh_on_the_cape »

I want to be able to take calls, and also stream audio from my bluetooth phone.
The HU-650 has no Aux in, so is my only option to just install a new headunit that has bluetooth?
They are not too expensive from Crutchfield. But I am satisfied with the HU-650 sound, apart from no aux in or bluetooth.

Thanks.

I have this:
https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Bluetoot ... B0030BZ7HM
Bluetooth to FM transceiver.

And I can not believe that I paid that much for it. Maybe the price has increased over the years.
I used to use it a lot when I was driving between Boston, MA and New London, CT. Over that long a distance, I would run into issues with radio stations coming in on "my" frequency, but the unit quickly would find a new, free frequency for me to use.
If you don't plan on changing your geographic range all that frequently, I highly recommend this, at a smaller price.

I just ordered an new Alpine stereo for only a little more from Crutchfield. Handles calls and streams music via bluetooth.

There are bluetooth adapters that can be added to the HU-650. IPD has them for a little over $150. If you turn the source button on the right, lower side of the radio it switches between the radio, tape, and cd changer functions. The bluetooth adapter connects to the cd changer input.
