Buy a rebuild kit for $50 and rebuild the SR yourself:

Erie Vo-Vo is a good source for rebuilt racks.

I had mine rebuilt at Jorgen automotive.

A local reman shop says my rack's shaft is rusted, therefore can not be rebuilt. Says the boot let the water in.

A jy find. 1995 850 GLT - 100000 miles. Will it fit once rebuilt?

I believe ANY rack from an 850 should work. I think my research showed that the SMI racks started with the 98 model year.

Double-check the boots on the tie rods to be sure they say "TRW".

Careful
Racks are all different and many years use multiple racks that are not interchangeable
You need the numbers off your rack (on the bottom) to make sure you get the right one

I found this marking MCW 5 on the rack of my 97-850. The location is surface below the bolt to the mount.
Should it be matched with the replacement JRL?
