Thanks for the update. I was curious if the aux air cooler for your transmission saved you from further troubles. Seems like it has.
I've been thinking about the same modification for my XC70. Just replace the B4 servo cover, installed a Magnefine filter and changed the fluid. Haven't driven it yet as I'm also doing the whole front suspension.
In fact when my dad's XC90 trans was rebuilt, I had the shop bypass the radiator integral cooler and had them install aux air cooler. This because XC90 radiator internal cooler is known to leak; water into trans oil causing disasterous result.
Only drawback is that trans oil does not come upto temperature quickly and may not reach optimium operating temperature for the best fuel economy - one of the reasons trans and engine oil coolers are integrated. But I'm willing to give up 1 or 2 mpg for the peace of mind knowing that transmission will not act weird after warm up.

I record my mpg at every fill-up, but so far, I don't notice much of a difference. That would make sense though.
Haven't been on here for quite a while. Interesting to read your story and symptoms jalex19100, they were exactly like mine. I would like to explore some of those things you have done at a later date. Right now, time doesn’t allow too much experimenting.
I have P0234 and P1171 codes now to deal with too. Not sure where to start, maybe with the turbo control valve/boost control solenoid, but I have read it can also relate to the MAF, MAP, ETM, O2 and CP valve. So it may become a case of changing out all kinds of parts until something sticks.
Precopster, you mention the alternator. I changed out the voltage regulator on my alternator, maybe should have changed both the whole thing, but it seems to work well. The regulator totally went out. And I have never set the adaptation so I may have to break down and get myself a VIDA and the works. Would actually be nice to really know what’s going on. I will need some guidance from you on what to get, but I have seen a lot of VIDA and hardware on e-bay, not sure if it all works as “advertised.”
Thank you all for your feedback and when time allows, I would like to contact you directly with what I find out with mine and see what you think.
Thanks,
Emil

If you get one off of eBay, mine was under $200 and I picked someone in the states who had lots of good feedback.
I have something leaking slightly somewhere, but it seems to have been like that a long time and it's not my tranny. I still don't like having my trans cooler mounted with the zip-tie like pads it came with but I don't see any issues yet. And my mpg is still a solid 21-26.
Since I switched jobs this month and my commute went from 17 mi to 3, I get 21 or 23 mpg now. I got a solid 25-26 on my 17 mi commute. 80%hwy.
Good luck on the codes. Diagnostics is a beast to deal with. Feel free to msg me.

If you get a vida/dice, I meant. Oh, and vida soft installation is painful. Took me a few tries before it was happy and installed.

A bit over 2 months and 2600 mi. So far it's been trouble-free. No leaks, bad side-effects, trouble codes or anything and the fluid stays nice and red. I just drive it without worrying now. Yes, I was able to reset adaptations with VIDA. My car doesn't have "adaptation mode", but it did let me reset it.
It still doesn't shift perfect, but it's pretty close, with some occasional shift delay from 2-3 and a slight hard downshift, but even after an hour or more of city traffic, it's not harsh or bad enough for normal people, (as opposed to those of us that notice every little delay, noise or vibration), to notice. Passengers definitely don't notice a thing.
As far as mpg, still pretty consistent.
Luckily, no new problems have cropped up (completely). A little bit of a power steering issue is creeping up, but I'm keeping an eye on it.
