How do I reset the service reminder light on my 1998 V70T5 ?

Remove the bulb, put it in a large bench vise, and tighten up the vise. As far as you can.

That's the 'hard reset' (and it is guaranteed to work 110% of the time)

What if you don't happen to have a vise? I have a workaround.

My boot heel worked well too.

But yeah, you can't reset it on a 1998 without a special $50 tool.

I'll leave the vise solution for plan "B". I tried the procedures using the odometer reset, but they don't work. Maybe my V70 requires the special tool. Any ideas on what to buy or how much they are?

If you can scare up a cracked copy of VOL-FCR from one of the Peer to Peer sites like pirate bay you can then buy a Vag-Com cable for your laptop from Amazon or eBay for around $15.00 and that will reset the light. It will also do some other diagnostics.
