Good news about the amp search: the tech is breaking down two cars like mine and said if they have an amp in them, I can have it. Problem is, there are several amps with the same plug connection but different model numbers.
The first one is 9452029, the second is 1384848. I don't mind fiddling with connections and trying different units but this guy needs some idea of what he's looking for, either in the salvage cars or on his shelf. Any ideas?

ALL 850-S & V70 amps work
The one pictured is the lower watt amp for 850Rs
You want the underseat amp (4x50) amp, the correct amp for a 901.
There are a couple for sale over on Volvospeed, make sure you also get the harness

Rats! Thanks JRL. I received a model #020110 under dash amp unit today. It appears to have only one connection, the multi pin. Felt pretty light, but what do I know.
Should I bother putting it in there? And do the connections exist for the underseat amp if my GLT did not come with one? Sorry of these are redundant questions. I'll read back through my previous searches.

I got the "amp" and HU together today, and I'm confused (again). This one apparently fits only the "Dolby" plug on my 901.
My question then is this: can I use the under dash Dolby unit with the underseat amp too? What is the function of the Dolby box?
It seems like will be fairly difficult to get the underseat amp and harness, but if putting the 901 HU, Dolby electronics and 25X4 amp all together results in a truly kick ass set up, I'm willing to see this through.
Thanks for all the replies thus far.

Found this over on Swedespeed Forums:
More or less, the speakers are the same on cars equipped with the 901, amp, dolby processor, and center channel speaker vs. cars that came with the standard 816. I believe that the rear door speakers are upgraded on models that came with the Dolby processor etc. and the rear parcel shelf speakers were better as well on S70s but I could be wrong. I bought the upgraded door speakers for my '98 a couple years ago and they were an improvement over stock. Front dash speakers, door speakers, and tweeters on a V70 are for sure the same.

To refine my question: is it coals to Newcastle to throw more wattage and Dolby sound at the stock speakers? I have no reservations about changing some or all out. They aren't hard to find.
The Blitz audio adapted for MP3 looks good. The video I watched used the exact HU I have for I-Pod/phone and charges as you go. Pretty clean looking set up.

You have your SC-901 head unit. Check.
You have the Dolby processor. Check.
Sounds like you do NOT have the center speaker / dash yet. That's OK - it can be added later.
Your amplifier options are:
- part #6816302 - 4 x 50W that mounts behind the radio
- part #1384848 - 4 x 40W that mounts behind the radio
- part #9452029 - 4 x 50W that mounts under the passenger seat
JRL is right - the "correct" amp for the SC-901 setup with Dolby processor installed is the 4 x 50W underseat unit. The Dolby processor mounts in the spot behind the radio where the other amps would normally be mounted.
HOWEVER - I'm here to tell you that ANY of the amps will work. The Dolby processor is small enough that it can be shoehorned into the space to the left of the glove box and the cable will still reach the head unit. That's what I did.
Is the upgrade worth it? I think so. I kept the stock speakers and the setup has much more bass and crisper highs. I'm very happy with it. I have NOT installed my center speaker setup yet (I have the Dolby center speaker dash sitting in my basement, but the speaker is toast and a new center speaker is $110+).
What I'm running:
SC-901
Dolby processor
4 x 50W amp behind the radio
glovebox 6-CD changer
USA Spec iPod adapter (have to change plugs between the changer and iPod adapter)
(future) Center speaker
I do have a part #1384848 - 4 x 40W amp that mounts behind the radio with the mounting bracket and harness in my basement that I would let go for $80 shipped if you are interested. I doubt you would be able to tell much difference between a 4 x 40 amp and 4 x 50 amp. I couldn't.
